Kayseri, shown here, was a Thoroughbred racehorse at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico whose decline was documented over time through falling performance, repeated veterinary concerns, and visible lameness. Despite clear warning signs, she continued to race. The condition that led to her euthanasia was chronic and progressive, meaning it existed well before her final race. She is one of 1,513 horses lost at Camarero, many not from isolated incidents, but from a system that failed to do its job.
