This collage is meant to represent the complexities of a parent-teacher conference. While the meeting is meant to focus on the present performance of the child, both the parents' and teachers' histories are subconsciously but powerfully influential, represented by the smaller mosaic tile-photos that show family, school, and challenges of the past. Everyone is attempting to do better for the child than what they had, which can lead to misunderstandings and conflict between the child's two biggest supporters since the conversations are so emotionally and passionately charged, but not openly acknowledged.
